Next time for sure...
Although a studio made an offer for “Things Behind The Sun” and guaranteed an Oscar campaign for Kim Dickens who seemed a top contender for the industry’s highest honor writer/director Allison Anders ultimately decided against the more prestigious theatrical debut opting instead to premier the film on Showtime in order for this very personal drama to reach a larger viewing audience…an audience perhaps more comfortable viewing the difficult subject matter in the privacy of their own homes. A tough choice for the auteur but an honorable one. As for Kim...it’s only a matter of time.
